Joan E. Stout, 82, Altoona, died Saturday evening at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Anthony and Violet (Nagle) Frates. Her husband, Richard E. Stout, whom she married on Dec. 13, 1954, at Cumberland, Md., preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2013.
Surviving are two sons: Brady R. and Daryl K. and his fiancee, Amy Rapczak, all of Altoona; five grandchildren: Mark, Adam, Brianne, Bailey and Addyson; a sister, Carol Ann Galluccio in New Jersey; a brother, John Patrick, in Florida; and her personal caregiver, Tom Bainey.
She was also preceded in death by three sons: Richard D., James B. and Robert D.; and a grandson, Brandon J.
Joan was a cafeteria worker, employed by Altoona Area School District, and she previously had been employed by Sylvania.
Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed spending time at the ALSM Adult Senior Care Center. At her request, the service and visitation will be private, as will interment at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries Daycare Services.
