Chester 'Chet' Harry Lafferty, Jr.
November 17, 1948 - December 8, 2021
Chester 'Chet' H. Lafferty Jr. 73, of Altoona, died Wednesday morning at James E. Van Zandt VAMC.
Chester was born in Altoona, the son of the late Chester Harry Sr. and Helen (Morgan) Lafferty. He married Beverly G Hines on October 16,1981, in Altoona.
Survived by his wife: Beverly
Two daughters: Rhonda (Cory) Seymour and Kelsey (Mike) Renz, one son: Chester H. III, grandchildren: Dylan, Morgan, his special grandson Lawson who thought grandpa was his hero. two sisters: Marge Gutshall and Marilee Lafferty, Numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his half-brother Ron Morgan, and grandson Brendan Seymour.
Chester was a member and enjoyed his friends at the Catholic War Veterans, Cesare Battisti Club, Altoona Moose, Newburg Fire Association. Chester was an avid camper and loved the outdoors, playing pinochle, and especially enjoyed being with his wife, children, grandchildren and his dog Syd.
He served in the Army as a Sgt. during the Vietnam war.
He was a Carman/ Welder for Norfolk Southern at the Hollidaysburg shops.
Graduate of Altoona High School class of 1966,
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 1:00 to 4 pm at the Newburg Fire Hall, 2808 Washington Ave, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to kindly be made to American Cancer Society PO Box 862 Pittsburgh, Pa. 15106 in Chester's memory.
