DAVID R. HAMMEL

David R. Hammel, 74, Altoona, died Tuesday morning at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Harry A. and Margaret Eleanora (Hess) Hammel. He married Carol V. McCaulley on Oct. 29, 1969, in Bellwood, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2000.

Surviving are a daughter, Michelle Dawn Hammel of Altoona; three sons: Darren J. in California, Dwayne P. (Rebecca) of Altoona and David R. II, with whom he resided; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

David served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He worked for Shields Cleaning for 30 years.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or service. Inurnment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
