Deloris Irene 'Ducky' Patterson

Deloris Irene "Ducky" Patterson, 82, Altoona, died Wednesday morning at Valley View Home. She was born in Carson Valley, Duncansville, daughter of the late John R. and Arvilla (Clapper) Grove. She married George S. "Pete" Patterson Aug. 9, 1947, in Virginia. He preceded her in death Dec. 14, 2000. Surviving are two daughters: Joyce E. Stark and husband, Richard S., of Prosser, Wash., and Jeannine Burns and husband, Paul R., of Altoona; a son, James A. of Altoona; three grandsons: Paul W. Burns, Patrick R. Burns and James A. Patterson II; a sister, Helen Lightner of Altoona; and a brother, James B. Grove and wife, Mildred, of Altoona. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Evelyn Eckley, Audra Delozier and Edna Lightner; and three brothers: Raymond, John and Earl Grove. Ducky was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, pets and feeding wildlife. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Ralph W. Hamer and Pastor Harold Crossman officiating.
