Dorothy Mae Clapper

Dorothy Mae (Aiken) Clapper, 88, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, drew her last earthly breath and her first heavenly breath Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 2024.

She was the cherished wife of the late Walter William Clapper, Sr. for 67 years.

Surviving are her children: Susan Sprinkle, Joseph (Kathy) Clapper, Judy (Victor) Ridenour and Larry Crea Clapper; as well as her 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law: Sandra Morrison, Ann Aiken, Kathleen Clapper, Kathy Clapper and Betty Clapper; and a brother-in-law, John (Karen) Clapper.

She was preceded in death by a son, Walter William Clapper Jr.; her parents, Crea and Edna (Stoltz) Aiken; her siblings: Joseph (Marie) Dale, Dolores (Nelson) Lafferty, Helen Aiken, John (Shirley) Aiken and Harry Aiken; as well as her in-laws: Russell (Joanne) Clapper Jr., Annabelle (Charles) Fisher, Robert Clapper, Janet (William) Baker, George Clapper, David (Kim) Clapper, William Kenawell and Daniel Morrison. 

Dorothy was a woman of deep faith who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was always eager to share the Gospel and truly lived her Christian faith. She loved her family, and will be remembered as a faithful daughter, loving wife, wonderful mother and adoring grandmother. 

She was renowned for cooking and baking, especially her apple dumplings.

Friends will be received from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, with the Very Reverend Kris D. Stubna. Private Interment will be at Blair Memorial.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Garvey Manor Nursing Home, 1037 S. Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. May she rest in peace.
