E. Rae Kapfhammer, 72, Altoona, passed away Friday morning at her residence. Rae was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Raymond A. and Marian (Winrick) Airhart.
Rae married Frank P. Kapfhammer on May 25, 1973, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2015.
Survivng is a son, Joseph A. (Samatha) Kapfhammer, and their son: Francis “Franky” Kapfhammer; a sister, Michelle C. (Michael) Brennan and their children: Nicole (Mike) and Courtney; and also many nieces and nephews. Rae is also survived by the Kapfhammer extended family.
She was preceded in death by her infant, Francis Rae; and her brother, Robert A.
Rae was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She was a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School of 1970.
Rae was a case worker employed by Blair County Public Assistance Office and previously the Hollidaysburg State Hospital.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting, sewing, reading and genealogy.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church, Fourth Street and Wopsononock Ave., Altoona. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by concelebrants, Father Brian Norris and Father Mark Begly.
Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to her grandson, Franky's, education.
