GERALD D. LUTHER

Gerald D. Luther Jr., 78, Altoona, died Thursday evening at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gerald Sr. and Evelyn (Beichler) Luther. He married Darlene E. Walters on Sept. 29, 1956, in Greenwood, and she preceded him in death on April 26, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters: Joyce Ann Sechrist of Altoona and Rebecca Jean (Donald) Wagner of Chambersburg; a son, Steven Eugene of Falls Church, Va.; two granddaughters: Karen Gregorchik and Marcie Sechrist; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Gregorchik; and a brother, Kenneth G. of Roaring Spring.

Gerald retired as a mechanic/foreman for Juniata Silk Mill. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Loyal Order of Moose, Frohsinn Singing Society and Concordia Club.

Gerald was a passionate bowler all his life in various leagues. He enjoyed watching the Steelers and Pirates.

Friends may call from 11 to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at the funeral home, by Pastor Paula Schmitt. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park, Altoona.
