Jane L. Koury, 97, died Tuesday evening at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home of natural causes. She was born in Oil City, Pa., daughter of the late John and Lillian (Neidel) Grant.
Jane married George Koury in December of 1954. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1979.
Surviving are her two sons, John Koury and Randy (Jeanie) Koury, both of Altoona; grandchildren: Sammy Koury of Fort Worth, Texas; Alex Koury and his wife, Genevieve Mollitor, and their daughter: Azra of Syracuse, N.Y.; and Grace Koury and her fiancé, Robert Gerold, of Lewiston, Maine.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Lillian, John G. and Joann.
Jane graduated from Altoona High School in 1946. She graduated from Penn State with a degree in chemistry in 1950. In 1968 she started teaching science at Roosevelt Jr. High. During her 25 years of teaching, she also earned her master’s equivalency in nutrition education at Penn State.
Jane loved her three grandchildren and great-grandchild, Azra. She enjoyed skiing, golf, running and gardening. Jane also enjoyed competitive racing.
At her request, there will be no public services.
