John A. Stolz 88, of Altoona, PA., passed away Monday at The Village at Morrisons Cove.

John was born in Altoona, the son of the late Alvin John and Dorothy (Grimminger) Stolz. He married Nancy Mae Smith on July 14, 1962, at Altoona.

Survived by his wife: Nancy; two daughters: Julie (Greg) Corbin and Renee M (Bill) Calvert, one son: Gregory J. Stolz, 7 grandchildren, Jonathon Stolz; Sarah Frances Stolz; Olivia Stolz; Tyler Calvert, William Calvert and Daniel Calvert; and Madelynne Corbin; a great granddaughter, Katella Butler.

Two sisters: Carol Blake and Janet Harris.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Paul. He received a associate degree from Penn State.

John was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church Sinking Valley

Bavarian Aid Society, Swiff Club, Unter Uns, Bowling Association and Altoona Bowling of Fame. John enjoyed Hunting, Bowling, Fishing, Golf, and painting pictures.

He was a Correction Officer for Huntingdon Prison.

He served in the Navy.

Family will receive friends on Friday August 29, 2025, from 1 to 2pm with service at 2 pm at the funeral home. By Pastor Richard Henry. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to Mount Olivet Lutheran Church 2266 Kettle Rd. Altoona Pa. 16601
