Karen Marie Detwiler, 75, of Altoona, died peacefully Friday evening at Garvey Manor. Karen was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late George C. and Helen M. (Schultz) Waite. She married Thomas Detwiler on July 1, 1967.
Surviving are: her husband, Thomas; two sons: Mark Detwiler and Michael Detwiler; three grandchildren: Kirsta Kranik, Mikayla Detwiler and Madison Marie Detwiler; a great- granddaughter: Avlynn; and two sisters: Judith Stewart and Patty F. Colello.
She was employed by Altoona Regional Hospital, retiring as a secretary from the discharge department.
Karen was a devoted wife and mother. She loved canning fresh vegetables and making spaghetti sauce with her home-grown tomatoes.
Karen was a member of the Cathedral of The Blessed Sacrament and a Bishop Guilfoyle High School graduate of the class of 1963.
At the request of the deceased, there will be a private funeral service outside of Mass with Msgr. Stanley B. Carson officiating. (Covid-19regulations are required).
Committal will be at SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery.
