Karen A. Pleva, 71, of Duncansville, passed away at The Winds at Mattern Orchard, surrounded by her family. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Michael and Shirley (Gibney) Maier. Karen married Robert E. Pleva on Oct. 28, 1972. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past October.
Surviving are: her husband, Bob; her daughter, Jill (Gary) Dodson; her son, Matthew (Shelley) Pleva; two grandchildren, Blake and Luke Pleva; three sisters: Linda (Larry) Repko, Sandy (John) Steiner and Sharon (Bob) Albarano; and three brothers: Michael (Loane) Maier, Jeff (Jan) Maier and Mark (Laura) Maier.
She was a paralegal in Jubelirer, Carothers, Krier & Halpern Law Office.
Karen loved walking in Maple Hollow with her best friend, Beth. She enjoyed being outdoors, watching hummingbirds and gardening. Karen also liked spending time with her six grand-dogs. Karen loved being around her family, watching the Steelers games with them. Her favorite thing to do was spending time with her grandsons, Blake and Luke. They gave Karen so much joy, she couldn't be more proud of them.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family by Father Michael Pleva. Inurnment will be at SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to a local charity of your choice, or to Central Pa. Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA. 16602.
