Magdalene 'Maggie' Peckowycz

August 21, 1924 — March 14, 2009

Magdalene "Maggie" Peckowycz, 84, Altoona, died Saturday afternoon at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born at Houtzdale RD, daughter of the late George and Mary (McClevish) Plishko. She married Harry Peckowycz Nov. 14, 1953, in Ramey. He preceded her in death March 12, 1993. She is survived by one son, George I. Peckowycz of Altoona; a grandson, Mark Morgan in California; one brother, Peter Sr. and his wife, Margaret Swistock, of Houtzdale; a niece, Christine "Chrissy" Swistock and husband, Rick Flegal, of Hollidaysburg; many nieces and nephews; and a friend, Susan Snare. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Joseph, Charles, John and Alex; and sisters: Nancy Felix, Ann Forensky and Christine Makatan. Mrs. Peckowycz was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading and crossword puzzles. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where Panachida will be held at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2024 20th St., Altoona, by Father Joseph Tamburro. Committal will be at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to St. Mary's Ukrainian Church Cemetery.2024 20th St. Altoona, Pa. 16601.
