ROBERT R. LUMADUE

August 15, 1924 — December 3, 2010

Mr. Robert R. Lumadue age 86, of Altoona pass away at Hertiage Hall Nursing and Rehab, Leesburg Va. after a brief illness. Born in Coupon, he was the son of the late William and Caroline (Delozier) Lumadue. He married Catherine Theresa Deeda on August 22, 1953 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2004. Robert and Catherine raised two sons and a daughter: Carol E. Laclede and husband John and their son Philip and their daughter Catherine of Lovettsville, VA,: A son Mark A. and wife Debra and their sons, Matthew and Brandon of Hollidaysburg. A son Brian and wife Michele and their sons, Robert, Anthony and Jacob of Tampa, FL. Also surviving four sisters: Anna Hoover, Elizabeth “Bess” Greinader, Marjorie Hoffman and Sarah Quinlan all of Altoona. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Robert was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church where he was an usher. Robert served as President of the Bellemeade Civic Association for more than 20 years where he helped design, install and maintain the community water system. He retired as a fire inspector from the Insurance Service Office in 1986 after more than 30 years of service. He was Sergeant in the US Army during World War II serving with the 5th Inf. Regiment 71st Division. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, also an avid blood donor, receiving his 20 gallon and more pin from the American Red Cross. Robert was patient, caring man and always ready to lend a helping hand. He taught his children many things, but the most important lesson: "If you want to succeed in life, be honest, work hard, and treat others with respect" Friends received from 3 to 7 pm Wednesday December 8, 2010 at the Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home, Inc. 1204 - 17th Street Altoona, Pa. A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 9.00 am at St. Mark's Catholic Church 4th St and 6th Ave. Altoona by Father James Coveney Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. The family prefers memorial contributions to be given to the Sister Paula DelGrosso, Director, St. Vincent DePaul Food for Families Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
