ROBERT C. MERRELL SR.

Robert C. Merrell Sr., 66, Altoona, passed away Sunday morning at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Batavia, N.Y., son of the late Clifford and Clara (Nevinger) Merrell. On Sept. 5, 1970, he married Marsha A. Fowler married at Hamilton Air Force Base, San Marino, Calif.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Marsha; two sons: Robert Jr. and wife, Ann (Damiano), and Jason and wife, Michelle; four grandchildren: Matthew, Cody, Anessa and Madison; a great-grandson, Mak; two step-grandchildren: Christopher and Broc; three siblings: Verna Oehler, Gordon and Jimmy, all of Batavia, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was a graduate of Batavia High School. He served during the Vietnam War as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed going to his family camp for celebrations.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the family residence, 315 Sagemore Lane, Altoona.
