ROSEMARIE CECELIA MARTIN

January 23, 1926 — December 20, 2011

Rosemarie Cecelia Martin, 85, Altoona, died Tuesday morning at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Leo John and Elizabeth Marie (Baker) Buechele.Rosemarie attended Roosevelt Junior High School and Altoona High School, graduating in the class of 1944. She graduated with her registered nurse diploma from St. Joseph's Hospital in Pittsburgh in September 1947. During her years in Pittsburgh, she met several lifelong friends as well as her future husband. She and Joseph G. Martin of Pittsburgh were married on Nov. 20, 1948, in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Altoona. They lived in Altoona for over 50 years, and she was a volunteer reader for the Association for the Blind.Rosemarie devoted her life to her family members and was the loving mother of five children: Elizabeth M. Kilcoyne (Thomas) of Hummelstown, Janis P. Huling (James), Joseph W. (Filomena) of Bellefonte, James W. (Anne) of Sinking Spring and Lee J. (Laura) of Timonium, Md. Through her children, she and Joseph were blessed with 15 cherished grandchildren, and she was fortunate to enjoy three lovely great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Janis; and two siblings: Jack and Elizabeth.A private viewing will be held Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011. The Rev. James D. Zatalava will celebrate a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 12th Avenue and 20th Street, Altoona. Rosemarie's committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 2010 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
