RUTH D. GIBBONEY

Ruth D. Gibboney, 79, of Altoona, passed away peacefully Thursday at UPMC Altoona, surrounded by her family. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William E. and Ruth D. (Harris) Daugherty. She married James D. Gibboney on May 15, 1993 in Altoona.

Surviving are her husband, Jim; children: Michelle (Ray) Trice, Rosalie (Edward) McConahy and Monique (David) Hogue, William (Della) Strosnider; Traci (Paul Scanlon) Gibboney, Kelly (Mack) McCreery and Todd Gibboney; 11 grandchildren: Angie, Edward, Casondra, Isabella, Emily, Nicholas, William, Sara, Maggie, Cody and Tanner; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua; a brother, Ted; and her sisters: Anette and Eileen Quinton.

Ruth was employed by Altoona Hospital and held various positions during her time there.

 She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and loved her dog Bella.

 Ruth was of Lutheran Faith.

 At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or services.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be sent to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602; or Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 in Ruth’s memory.
