SARAH E. "SUSIE" BUSHBY

Sarah E. “Susie” Bushby, 83, Altoona, died Saturday evening at her residence.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frederick and Stella G. (Smith) Bushby.

She is survived by a nephew, Edward Garlena and wife, Nancy, and their daughter, Elizabeth Garlena. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Garlena.

Susie was a 1948 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She was a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic, retiring in 1992 after 43 years of service. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and the Telephone Pioneers.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
