TED R. KISSELL

Ted R. Kissell, 87, Altoona, died Friday evening at Golden LivingCenter - Hillview. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Mary (Bura) Kisielnicki. He married Mary E. Abraham on Sept. 10, 1951, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Lisa A. Jennings and husband, Richard, of Nottingham; six grandchildren: Alyssa Schellhammer, Adam Schellhammer, Sean Jennings, Paul Jennings, Nick Jennings and Rick Jennings; two sisters: Lottie Gajewski of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Theresa Luci of Harrisburg; his twin brother, Ed and wife, Elsie, Kisielnicki of Red Lion; a special companion, Patricia Grove of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark; and three brothers: Henry Kisiel, Joseph Kisielnicki and Frank Kisielnicki. Mr. Kissell was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1982 as captain from the City of Altoona Fire Department after 30 years' service. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and also a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood, Polish National Alliance, Coupon Sportsman Club and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 299. Ted enjoyed spending time with his family, painting pictures of scenery, fishing and telling stories. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held during visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona. Committal will be at SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery. The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Saint Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen, in care of Sister Paula DelGrosso, Director, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
