Thaddeus “Ted” Thomas Kowalski 80, of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home died early Wednesday, at UPMC Altoona.Ted was born in Altoona, the son of the late Chester J. and Helena (Tomchek) Kowalski. Survived by one brother: Paul (Emma) Kowalski, sister-in-law, Mary C. Kowalski. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews who referred to him lovingly as Uncle Buzzard.He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester. He served in the Army, in Germany, during the Vietnam Era and worked as a Machinist for Conrail after his time in the service. Ted enjoyed riding motorcycles, walking in the woods, shooting muzzleloaders, target practice, and woodworking. Ted also enjoyed attending numerous family gatherings where good food and laughs were shared. He was well known for his daily routine making stops to check in with friends and family around town and could always be relied on for a joke and a smile.
He was a former member of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church and
a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood, Riggle’s Gap Rifle club, and Newburg Firehall.Family will receive friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 am on Wednesday October 29, 2025, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home, Inc. where funeral services outside of mass will be at 11:00 am by Father Brad Baldwin, TOR. Inurnment at Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Altoona.
