Thomas 'Tom' J. Wojcik

Thomas "Tom" J. Wojcik, 78, Altoona RD 5, died Saturday afternoon at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief illness. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Michael and Anna (Saternus) Wojcik. He married Jean "Theresa" Hammond Nov. 7, 1953, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Gallitzin. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Diane Brennan and husband, Steve, of Hollidaysburg; four sons: Ed and wife, Jackie, of Duncansville, Ken and wife, Donna, and Stan, all of Altoona, and Ron at home; six grandchildren: Jennifer Michelone and husband, Steve, Stephanie Tanner and husband, Seth, Danielle Wojcik, Andrew Wojcik and wife, Jen, Craig Brennan, and Kimberly Brennan-Pope and husband, Travis; stepgrandchildren: Amber Gallardy and husband, Kyle, Ashley Dobrowolsky and husband, Cory, and Justin Davidson and wife, Sarah; great-grandchildren: Christopher Michelone, Ashley Michelone, Olivia Michelone, Dominic Michelone, Isaac McConnell and Wyatt Tanner; three sisters: Beatrice Dybus of Kearney, N.J., Joann Merritt of Altoona, Mary Yonkosky of Jessup, Georgia; and two brothers: Joseph of Tucson, Ariz., and Michael, of Kearney, N.J. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Louis, Frank, James and William. Mr. Wojcik was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Catholic War Veterans and the Cresson American Legion. He retired from Conrail in 1992 as an electrician after 45 years of service. He served during the Korean War in the Marine Corps as a corporal. Tom enjoyed fishing, gardening, riding his bike, swimming and working in his workshop. He loved spending time with his wife, family and grandchildren. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 55th Street and Roselawn Avenue, by Father James Crookston. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly make contributions to Bernard A.
