Walter A. 'Skip' Siry

Walter A. “Skip” Siry, 66, of Altoona, passed away at Fox Subacute, Mechanicsburg surrounded by his family after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Walter J. and Betty (Smith) Siry.

Skip is survived by his wife, Susan L. (Bayer) Siry, whom he married on June 27, 1998, in Altoona; a daughter, Summer (Siry) Tomlinson; and a stepdaughter, Ashley Creamer (Matt); a stepson, Jeremy Steiner (Gretchen); four stepgrandchildren; a sister, Betty Lou Reed; and a nephew, Jason Reed.

He graduated from Altoona Area High School, Class of 1973.

He was a carman/welder, employed by Northfolk Southern, retiring in 2002.

Skip enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and was a Penn State and Steelers football fan. Skip was known for and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for different children's groups.

He always made time for his dog, Nittany.

Skip was a member of Bavarian Aid Society, a long-time member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood where he was a past president and belonged to the Jaffa Shrine Road runners.

At the request of the deceased, and due to COVID-19 guidelines, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona.
