GEORGE T. "PUNK" PARSON

George T. "Punk" Parson, 81, of Altoona, passed away peacefully Friday evening at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Ebert and Sarah Jane (Long) Parson.

Surviving are: a brother, Jerry Parson (Judy) of Altoona; two sisters: Joyce Clark of Lancaster and Lois Ann Strobaugh (Terence) of Avalon, N.J.; a special friend, Ronald Dinicola; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Donald A. Parson and Philip E. Parson; ex-wife, Nancy L. Parson; and brother-in-law, Dean Clark.

George was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School and a peace time veteran. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ where he was an elder in the church. He was a firefighter with the City of Altoona Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Captain after serving the city for 28 years.

He enjoyed baking and making fudge for his family and friends. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 - 17th Street, Altoona. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. by Al Holtzinger (lay pastor). Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
